Learning Plan
We all learn different. The first step is to get comfortable in your boat, with safety being our number one priority. Number two priority: having fun!We encourage newbies to join us at a pond or pool session: get to know kayaking, paddle strokes, and safety maneuvers.
We encourage newbies to then take the class offered at the YMCA. When the pool sessions conclude, moving water lessons begin outside as we explore local rivers including the Huron, Maumee, Vermillion, and Sandusky.
These moving water classes are designed to prepare you for class II-III rapids. In April, TRG makes an annual student trip to Slippery Rock Creek, PA where your new skills are tested on class II-III rapids.
